Ryanair has warned that flight prices could rise by 10 percent this summer and for many Britons a holiday may seem out of reach.
However, there are a few tips and tricks that can help British tourists get a slightly cheaper price for a flight.
Flying during school term-time will nearly always be cheaper than during the holidays, but if that’s not possible, there are still a couple of hacks British tourists can use.
While flight prices tend to fluctuate by time and day, there are a few times of the week when prices are likely to be lowest.
Paul Stringer, director of Norton Finance, has shared his top tips for British tourists looking to score a deal on a flight.
Travel on a Wednesday
Paul recommends flying on a Wednesday if possible as prices could be at least eight percent lower than average.
Many 9-5 workers like to fly on a Friday to maximise their weekend. If you can travel on Wednesday, you could pick up a cheaper flight.
Flight prices can also fluctuate based on the time of day and flying late in the evening might be cheaper than during the day
Book on a Sunday
According to Paul, booking a flight on Sunday could save travellers up to 13 percent on their holiday.
Friday is generally the most expensive day to book a flight so should be avoided by Britons looking for a deal.
Britons can also set up price alerts on a flight comparison website so they can snap up a cheap price when they see one.
Choose all-inclusive
All-inclusive holidays may make it easier for British tourists to stick to a budget as food and drink is usually included.
Britons should check the terms and conditions on their deal before booking as drinks may not be included.
A holiday package may also include airport transfers which could cut down on expensive car hire or taxi fees.
